Da Gama Rose opposes bid to summon bank

Businessman Da Gama Rose opposed yesterday an application to summon Barclays Bank over the disputed Karen land.

His company, Muchanga Investment, is battling for the control of the Sh8 billion land in Karen.

Through lawyer Cecil Miller, the company said the application by former National Social Security Fund managing trustee Jos Konzolo to have the bank summoned over the ownership of the parcel will delay the case.

Konzolo wants the bank to explain how it transferred the 134-acre land to Da Gama Rose.

Konzolo’s company, Telesource Ltd, had told Justice Lucy Gacheru it would be fair if the bank officials are questioned over the transfer.

But Miller opposed the application, saying the case should be quickly concluded.

The judge will give directions on the case on July 17.
