Woman in court for stealing cash from Miss World 1997 Hayden Diana

A woman was charged on Wednesday at the Kibera Law courts for allegedly stealing from Miss World 1997 Diana Hayden.

The prosecution said Ashpal Boghal Ghir stole the money contrary to section 2(211) as read with section 275 of the penal code.

Ghir was charged before Kibera Chief Magistrate Joyce Gandani.

She denied the charges.

Ghir allegedly stole a debit card of Royal Bank of Scotland and Ksh209,828.

Diana appeared in court in person in the company of her lawyer Cecil Miller.

Miller said Hayden and Ghir have been close friends over the years before the unfortunate incident.

Ghir was released on a cash bail of shs 70,000 and Sh200,000 bond.

The case will be heard on August 24.

Hayden is an Indian actress, model, and the winner of Miss World 1997 pageant.

She is the third Indian woman to win the title of Miss World.

She also won three subtitles during the pageant and is the only Miss World titleholder to do so. In 2008, she was a celebrity contestant in the reality show Bigg Boss.

Miss World 1997, the 47th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 22 November 1997 at the Plantation Club Seychelles in Baie Lazare, Seychelles.

Eighty-Six delegates competed for the coveted crown.

At the end of the event, India’s Diana Hayden came out victorious.

Hayden went on to win the Miss World 1997 pageant at the age of 24- crowned by Miss World 1996, Irene Skliva.
